Sunflowers

Just sunflowers that were fun for the kid to plant and watch grow.

Our lives changed a little last week. It might sound really minor to say "my kid started preschool," but I don't handle change gracefully. One day at a time, right?

    1. Thanks, the front yard will feel a bit empty once I cut them down.

  2. It is not minor. It is the first step...
The days are long, but the years are short.

    1. Thanks Kirby :) It's also a co-op so I'm learning my "jobs," too. It's going to be great, but the transition has left me feeling tired.

  3. They are gorgeous! I don't handle change gracefully either, so you are not alone. My daughter has been home sick for almost two weeks now since she started preschool. My husband and I decided to go back to our original plan and for me to homeschool Charlotte for preschool. It just feels like the right decision for us at this time. And we are back to see the doctor again today. My child has barely eaten anything to speak of in six days. I just want my girl well again! Thinking of you!

    1. That sounds stressful! I expect we'll have more sniffles than usual, but it didn't occur to me that it could be doctor-worthy. I'm glad you have the confidence to home-school. It would be too much for me, I think. It's commendable that you've made a decision based on what's best for your family rather than what's expected. Sure hope Charlotte is feeling better soon!

  4. I love sunflowers. Ours are finished already, but they make me smile. We fed the heavy seeded heads to the squirrels. They've gotten really fat as a result!

(And P.S. Those heads get smelly when they're warm. It smells like a brewery on our back porch!)

    1. I love them, too. These were called "mammoth," but I think I'll do a variety next summer. We've given one head to the squirrels so far. And one head completely disappeared - absolutely no sign of it! It's kind of weird.

    2. I should have said disappeared OFF THE STALK! We hadn't cut it down yet!
