A Navy Blue Front Door

We, well I, chose the darkest blue at the bottom. One day in early May it was warm and sunny and I felt motivated impulsive, so at 2 in the afternoon I decided to paint the door. Not so smart considering we'd need at least two coats. The second coat didn't happen until well after the solstice.
I was immediately pleased with the color I chose. Then I stepped back from the door after applying a bit of Behr's Starless Night. I was so, so sad that the new color looked ridiculously similar to the old color. But I was invested at this point, so I finished up the first coat expecting to feel underwhelmed with the results.
Here is what we lived with through a couple of moons before we completed the second coat, spray painted the hinges, painted the jambs and replaced the threshold. I absolutely love it! We were lazy efficient and painted the interior and exterior the same color. The brush marks around the peep hole are bothering me, so I'm going to put another coat of paint on the plywood. But otherwise it's DONE!

We've been busy with regular life stuff. That busyness has made me tired. Being tired has halted all motivation to write. But I promise that I'll put together a "before and after" post for next week with some fancy side-by-side photos that we can all oooh and aaah over. Unfortunately for me, using Photoshop is not like riding a bike. Simple things can take me forever even if I know what I'm doing.

Forever. Say it with me like Jesse Pinkman. For-EV-errrrr!

    1. Yes! We are still busy doing things, I just don't feel like writing it up. If I had your house, I would be on the deck pretty much all hours of the day :)

  2. I love the navy blue... great choice! It also looks really nice when it's open against the gold wall.

    1. Thanks. I've secretly wanted something navy blue in that room since we painted it the gold color. I though about a couch or a rug, but never thought about the door until now. I'm very happy with the contrast.
