Roof Before & After

Yeah, yeah. Not too exciting, except for us. Having a roof you can trust is comforting, and we haven't been disappointed this rainy season. We got four quotes from roofer/contractors ranging from $5500 to $8100. That seemed like a pretty big difference. So we hired the company that our neighbors recommended and used a couple of years ago. And lucky us, it was the cheapest!

We removed the gutter and downspout from the garage, but the PVC gutters along the house are still there. They are working, so it's an expense we decided to hold off on. The quote for replacing all the gutters seemed reasonable at $1100. However, we wonder if it might be a DIY project. Anyone??

And finally, I would really like to replace the rusty outdoor light attached to the house. Or better yet, refinish it!

  2. wow, looks so much better. And I like that roof tile you chose :)

I wish we were there, Kyle and I would have done it for you even cheaper! ;)

    1. Roof styles have the silliest names - this one is "weathered wood" - but we do like the color.

The roof was definitely NOT a DIY for us...it was a complete tear-off, and the house is much steeper than it appears. That's awesome that you guys know how to do roofs, though!

I like your bathroom paint color, by the way :)

  3. The new roofing looks great! We had to replace our roof this summer, and man is Pitch ever deceiving. Next time no roof-DIY for us. Way too steep.

As for gutters, they should be a fairly simple DIY, you just attach them to the fascia boards with screws or nails and the pieces all fit together. Definitely a weekend project ;)

    1. Oh! Thanks for the info. Maybe we will get to the gutters this coming summer. I would like something paintable so that when we repaint the house (someday) they can match.
